For developers

A web developer portfolio, without building the portfolio site first.

Most developer portfolios stall at the same point: the site itself becomes the side project. Upload a CV as a PDF, add your GitHub profile, and the page is drafted from what you have already shipped.

Example

What the finished page looks like.

A made-up staff engineer, shown in the Blueprint template with a GitHub panel. Maya Chen is not a real person.

Maya Chen

15+ yrs

Staff engineer on multiplayer at Figma

Maya builds the quiet systems behind tools people share. Ten years from routing on Google Maps, through billing at Stripe, to the presence layer that makes a Figma file feel like one room.

What belongs on it

Five things a reviewer looks for.

  1. 01

Two or three projects, each with the problem

A reviewer gives a repository about a minute. Say what the project was for, what you built, and what happened after. A list of twelve tutorial apps says less than two things somebody used.

  2. 02

The stack, next to where you used it

A grid of logos does not show depth. “TypeScript, four years, on the checkout team” does. Tie each language or framework to a role or a project.

  3. 03

Roles with dates that match your CV

Recruiters compare the page with the CV and with LinkedIn. Gaps and overlaps are fine. Dates that disagree between the three are what raises a question.

  4. 04

Proof that the code is yours

A public GitHub profile, a merged pull request in a project people know, or a link to the thing running. One real link beats a paragraph of adjectives.

  5. 05

    A way to reach you

Email, LinkedIn, GitHub. Put them at the top. People who like the page should not have to scroll back to find you.

  6. Leave out

    • Skill bars and percentages. Nobody knows what 80% JavaScript means.
    • Every course certificate. Keep the ones a hiring manager would recognise.
    • Projects you cannot explain in an interview.

Where the page comes from

Start from what you already have.

CV as a PDF

Roles, companies, dates, education, and skills are read from the file. A LinkedIn profile saved to PDF works: open your profile, choose Resources, then Save to PDF.

GitHub profile

Public repositories and activity are added to the draft. The Blueprint template shows the contribution heatmap as its own panel.

Any other public page

A personal site, a Wellfound profile, or a project page can add roles and projects the CV left out.

The three steps are on the homepage. The price is on the pricing page.

Questions

I am a junior developer with no job history. Is the page empty?

No. Education, courses, and projects are part of the timeline. A bootcamp, a degree, and two finished projects with links make a complete page. You can add projects by hand if they are not on GitHub.

Do I need to write any code or host anything?

No. The page is hosted at pathfol.com/your-name. You pick a template and an accent color, and nothing else needs setting up.

Can I fix what the import got wrong?

Yes. Every date and role stays editable, and you can drop anything. Nothing is published until you mark the timeline as right.

What does it cost?

Publishing is free, with a small “Made with pathfol.com” bar on the page. One payment of $29 removes it. There is no monthly charge.

Bring a CV. Leave with a link.

The draft is private until you say it is right. Publishing is free on pathfol.com.
